A Diffuse-Interface Approach for Solid-State Dewetting with Anisotropic Surface Energies

چکیده

Abstract We present a diffuse-interface model for the solid-state dewetting problem with anisotropic surface energies in $${\mathbb {R}}^d$$ R d $$d\in \{2,3\}$$ ∈ { 2 , 3 } . The introduced consists of Cahn–Hilliard equation, either smooth or double-obstacle potential, together degenerate mobility function and appropriate boundary conditions on wall. Upon regularizing model, help suitable asymptotic expansions, we recover as sharp-interface limit diffusion flow interface an Young’s law zero-flux condition at contact line fixed external boundary. Furthermore, show existence weak solutions regularized both obstacle potential. Numerical results based finite element approximation are presented to demonstrate excellent agreement between proposed its limit.

Phase field approach for simulating solid-state dewetting problems

We propose a phase field model for simulating solid-state dewetting and the morphological evolution of patterned islands on a substrate. The evolution is governed by the Cahn–Hilliard equation with isotropic surface tension and variable scalar mobility. The proposed approach easily deals with the complex boundary conditions arising in the solid-state dewetting problem. Since the method does not...

A Phase-field Model for Solid-state Dewetting and Its Sharp-interface Limit

We propose a phase field model for solid state dewetting where the surface energy is weakly anisotropic. The evolution is based on the Cahn-Hilliard equation with degenerate mobility and a free boundary condition at the film-substrate contact line. We derive the corresponding sharp interface limit via matched asymptotic analysis involving multiple inner layers. The resulting sharp interface mod...
